Ali Nuhu applauds Iran’s use of cinema to promote Islam’s true image

Story by Ibraheem El-Tafseer

Director-General of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) and celebrated Nigerian actor, Dr. Ali Nuhu, has commended the Islamic Republic of Iran for using cinema as a powerful tool to project the peaceful and tolerant image of Islam globally.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja, Ali Nuhu praised Iranian filmmakers for consistently producing films that counter negative stereotypes about Islam and highlight the religion’s core values of peace and compassion.

He emphasized the shared cultural and religious values between Iran and Nigeria, particularly in the northern region, describing them as a solid basis for strengthening cinematic ties between the two nations.

Ali Nuhu advocated for robust collaboration through filmmaker exchange programmes, joint film productions, and market access for movies from both countries. He also proposed student exchange programmes between film institutions in Iran and Nigeria, including the National Film Institute in Jos, as a strategic step toward long-term capacity building and cultural diplomacy.
