The Medical Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), has filed prima facie case of professional misconduct on three of its doctors over the death of a Lagos-based chef, Peju Ugboma.
The case was filed against the doctors after an investigative panel which looked into the petition filed by Ijoma Ugboma, husband of the deceased, and reached a decision on October 28, 2021.

This was made public on Wednesday, November 10 in a letter to the widower, signed by the Secretary, Medical Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Dr E.D Anudu.
According to the council, the doctors were identified as Akiseku Adebiyi Kazeem, Kelechi Kingsley Renner and Motunrayo Amadu and will face the Medical and Dental Practitioners Tribunal.
41-year-old Peju, founder of a pastry company, I Luv Desserts, died on April 25 at Evercare Hospital in Lekki, where she was rushed to after developing complications from a surgery she had at Premier Specialist Medical Centre, Victoria Island.
Olisa Agbakoba Legal (OAL), who represented the petitioner, requested a coroner’s inquest into Peju’s death and allegations of negligence against Premier Specialists.
