5 bandit leaders surrender to Katsina, seek reintegration support
Abu Radda, Umar Black, Abdullahi Lankai, Jijjige, and Dabar Musa Dan Gandu, notorious bandit leaders from the Jibia area, have reportedly surrendered and laid down their arms following a series of intense military operations.
These bandits, who had long terrorized the Batsari, Safana, and Jibia Local Government Areas of Katsina State, were compelled to seek peace after the military’s relentless assault. According to a security analyst and counterinsurgency expert, the armed groups voluntarily disarmed during the process.
In their surrender, the bandits appealed to the government for alternative livelihood opportunities, requesting the establishment of markets, hospitals, and access to clean water as part of their reintegration efforts.
The surrender was facilitated by the National Community for Security and Societal Advancement in Katsina State (NCSOSACK), led by Comrade Hamisa S. Batsari, who represented the affected communities in security negotiations.
During the event, the bandits handed over their weapons to the military and released several hostages who had been abducted during their reign of terror. They vowed to embrace peace and end their involvement in criminal activities.
While the military welcomed the surrender, they emphasized that operations against unrepentant bandits would continue until lasting peace is restored across Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and the entire North West.
