How Zulum and I spent two days with IDPs distributing food, money – Senator Shettima

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

The Senator representing Borno Central and former governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima has narrated his experience when he followed Governor Babagana Zulum to Gomboru Ngala Local Government Area of the state to distribute food and money to Internally Displaced Persons.

He said: “We spent two days in the bush with the internally displaced persons, to distribute food items, drugs, money in cash, wrappers and blankets. Though we were in the bush for two days, considering the terrain of the area, which is some kilometres away from where Boko Haram commanders hide as their base, it was very rewarding and touching”.

Senator Shettima who is a prominent member in Borno politics and the campaign for Tinubu Presidency 2023, added that Governor Babagana Zulum is a blessing to humanity. When governors and ministers are peacefully sleeping in their houses in the comfort of their family and the necessary luxury, Zulum is always in the bush in the wee hours of the night visiting IDP camps.

Gomboru Ngala which he said is part of his constituency have immensely benefited from the resettlement program of the governor, who recently received 30,000 Boko Haram members that surrendered with their families, and we have some in the camps in the state capital. There are also hundreds of displaced persons all over the state, and the governor a man of genuine intention and sincerity, has almost abandoned the government to be in the bush with securities to see to the welfare of our people.

According to Kashim Shettima who is working hard to be picked as Tinubu’s Vice President, revealed that when they spent two days in Gomboru Ngala, they saw children and old women in the camps, and it was his pleasure that he and the governor personally had physical contacts with children in the camps, and if given the chance he will be repeating the same in the company of his friend, Governor Zulum.
