ASUP supports Kazaure polytechnic with 50 sets of laptops

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has distributed 50 sets of computer laptops to its members of Husaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure in Jigawa State.
Presenting the items, the National President of the union, Mr Anderson Umezurike Ezeibe, through the branch chairman of the institute, Comrade Badaru, during the president’s official visit to the institution, said the union also provided 30 desktop computers to the institute’s computer laboratory.

Mr Anderson Umezurike Ezeibe explained that the National Information Technology Development (NITDA) donated 50 laptops and 30 desktop computers aimed to ease the teaching and learning of information and communication technology at the institution.
He noted that the union distributed the computers according to the seniority among the benefitting members.
Mr Ezeibe, therefore, called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the computer system.
Meanwhile, the National President of the union, Mr Anderson Umezurike Ezeibe while addressing members of the union at Hussain Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Kazaure, said the ASUP had called off its industrial action on June 10th 2021 based on agreements it reached with the Federal Government.
Anderson explained that part of the agreement includes the release of N15 billion for the revitalisation of polytechnics and to release money for payment of the arrears of minimum wage, the inauguration of the governing council, pay as you earned liability, among others.
He said since when the agreement was reached, the Federal Government has fulfilled some while others have not yet been achieved.
“Despite the suspension of the strike the revitalization funds is yet to be released after its approval by President Muhammadu Buhari as well as the minimum wage arrears”.
“Renegotiation document is still on, the renegotiation process of the agreement is also going on”.
“Therefore strike is a legitimate instrument of engagement for Government failure to meet our demand”, he said.
“Strike is a decision taken by National executives, so any time we give a progress report of it doesn’t meet the approval and satisfaction of NEC strike became an option”.
He noted that the NEC will take its possible decision on its next meeting to hold in March in Mubi.
