Terrorist attack: NRC suspends Abuja-Kaduna train service indefinitely (video)

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the suspension of train service between Abuja and Kaduna, following a terrorist attack Monday night.

The NRC made the announcement via a tweet on Tuesday morning.

“Dear passengers, due to unforeseen circumstances, Train operations along the Abuja-Kaduna route has been temporarily suspended.

“Further communication would be given in due course”, the Corporation tweeted.

The attack led to the derailment of the train on Monday night.

There were reports of injuries to passengers and abduction of some.

Mr Fidet Okhiria, the Managing Director, NRC, who confirmed attack did not give much details.

”We have confirmed the attack, but we cannot give you much information right now.

”From the reports we have gotten, most of the passengers have gone into hiding and the officials on board are yet to give us report of the situation.

”There are reports of gunshots and the train derailed due to the attack,” Okhiria said.

The attack happened between Katari and Rijana train stations, en route Kaduna from Abuja.
