Some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) numbering up to 60 reportedly escaped death on Thursday, April 28, in Warri Delta State after a coaster bus they boarded went up in flames.
In a video obtained by Neptune Prime, the bus was at a petrol station close to the Nigerian Navy Headquarters in Warri to refuel went up in flames in the process following which the corps members immediately rushed out of the bus to avoid being touched by the flames.

The corps members were said to be heading to Asaba, the state capital for their Passing Out Parade (POP).
According to reports, the bus belonged to the College of Education, Warri, and was hired by the corps members to convey them to Asaba for their POP after the completion of their service year.
Many of the corps members sustained serious injuries and lost some of their belongings to the fire.
One of the affected corps members who spoke with reporters said, “The driver stopped at a filling station close to Nigeria Navy Barracks in Warri to refuel the bus. While we were inside, and the filling station attendant was dispensing fuel into the bus, we heard a deafening sound, and everywhere was covered with smoke.”
However, the cause of the fire is unknown but a it is reported that the driver of the bus allegedly failed to switch off the bus while it was being refueled.
