NMCO aspires to be gateway to economic diversification – DG
Story from Abah ADAH, Abuja
The Director-General (DG), Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO), Engineer Simon Nkom, has avowed that the office aspires to be the gateway to the economic diversification the current administration in the country seeks to achieve.
The DG was speaking while receiving an award of Best Digital Innovation in federal government’s 5th .Ng Award category for the year 2022 on behalf of NMCO, after it was rated the best in that regard, at an Award Night organised by the Nigerian Internet Registration Association (NIRA), according to a statement.
NIRA, a non- governmental body established by the order of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to manage Nigeria’s country code, presented the award to the best portal of the federal government with excellent user experience which promote innovation and local content development with the .ng domain name.
NMCO which was nominated by the public and assessed by the Award Jury as fulfilling the criteria for the category, competed with other nominees namely; Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS); Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC); Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC); Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the National Pension Commission (PENCOM) and emerged winner with the highest number of votes in favour of the Agency.
The NMCO boss said the award is a call for the cadastre office to forge ahead and be committed to be able to achieve greater feat like the NIRA Award.
He said: “The reward for hard work is always more work, I will say this award is a call for more dedication and commitment for NMCO to continue until government’s desire for the agency and the sector is fulfilled.
“We will remain committed to professionalism and we can only improve on this achievement and many more so that NMCO can be the gateway to economy diversification as well as boost government’s revenue”.
