Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Wednesday announced a total ban on operations of commercial motorcycles popularly known as ‘Okada’ in local parlance in some Local Government Areas in the state.

The governor gave the order while speaking with all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and Area Commanders across the state at the Lagos House, Marina.
The ban is to take effective from June 1, 2022.
Affected areas include, Ikeha, Surulere, Eti Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island and Apapa local government area.
The ban is coming following the death of Mr David, a sound engineer, who was reportedly set ablaze by Okada riders last Thursday in the Ikoyi area of the state.
