Up to the end of Ada Ameh’s life
A popular Nollywood actress, Ada Ameh, has died on Sunday, 17th July 2022, at the age of 48.
Born on Wednesday, 15th May 1974, Ameh was a Nigerian actress who spent more than two decades in the Nigerian movie industry and was most notable for her character as Anita in the 1996 movie titled ‘Domitilla’ and as Emu Johnson in the award-winning Nigerian television series titled ‘The Johnsons’.
The movie star who hails from Benue State was born in Ajegunle, Lagos to a family of seven. Ameh who had three brothers and three sisters had her early childhood in the barracks. This was cut short after getting pregnant as a teenager.
According to Ameh during an interview with Chude Jideonwo in 2022, she got pregnant at 13 and welcomed her child that same year.
“I became a mother at 14, I got pregnant that same year. As a matter of fact, I got pregnant in March and I had my baby in December of the same year, that means I got pregnant when I was 13 plus,” she said.

She recounted how her father sent her out of the house after she welcomed the child but unfortunately, she lost her daughter following an unsuccessful surgery.
It could be recalled that on October 20, 2020, in Abuja in the heat of the coronavirus epidemic and the #EndSARS protest in Nigeria, Ameh lost her only child, Aladi Godgift and she was buried in Gwarinpa, Abuja on October 31 which led her into depression.
The death of her daughter was sadly the eighth time the actress would be burying a relative within years.
She was wrecked by the chain of losses and constantly returned to her daughter’s grave on each anniversary of her death to honour Aladi.
“I had max depression. I’ve been depressed for some years and it became very worse when I lost my daughter in 2020. We practically grew up together — I was 14 when I had her — and she was my best friend. My world crumbled when I lost her,” she had said.
“I had three of my sisters and three of my brothers and my father before that time. Then my daughter died and sometimes, I could cry for days.”
The actress who had been vocal about the fact that she was battling with issues and her mental health said she was being sued by a client for breach of contract.
“I have an issue right now and it’s taking my life, but I won’t die. We would get over it. I was given a job, but I didn’t do it because I have mental health issues,” she had said.
“Would people understand when say you have mental issues? No, they wouldn’t. They are slamming me with a bill, suing me but it’s okay.”
Sadly, the Nollywood star who was able to turn the pain into strength and even had people reaching out to her for support as well as to share their woes suddenly passed away.
According to several reports, the actress was said to have been a guest of an oil company’s top shot and his family when she suddenly slumped during a gathering.
She was reportedly rushed to the NNPC hospital in Warri, Delta State, where she was confirmed dead.
