Yobe State Governor, His Excellency, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, has assured that his administration will prioritise the prompt payment of salaries to civil servants in the state.

According to a statement issued by the DG, Press and Media Affairs to Yobe Governor, Mamman Mohammed, Buni gave the assurance following the outcome of a survey conducted by ‘BudgIT’ an independent civil organisation, on the payment of salaries in Nigeria.

The report of the survey which covers up to July 2022, captured Yobe State as one of the states that are not owing its civil servants.

Governor Buni said his administration had been committed and consistent when it comes to the payment of salaries and would maintain the tempo.

He reassured that in spite of the state’s meager resources, payment of salaries will remain a priority.

“This administration will continue to observe prudence, accountability, and transparency in all its transactions. We are committed to ensuring that we never fail in payment of salary to our workers” Governor Buni said.

He however urged civil servants on state and local government payrolls to reciprocate the government’s commitment through hard work, dedication and productivity.

“We all have great roles to play to uplift the lives of our people and create a state of our dream,” Governor Buni said.

It could be recalled that BudgIT in 2020 scored Yobe State as the second best state in Capital Budget Expenditure in Nigeria.
