Hospital mgt in Nasarawa warns staff against nonchalant attitude toward patients

Story from Bilkisu ADAMU, Lafiya

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Hospitals Management Board, Dr Egba Edego, has expressed his displeasure over the nonchalant attitude of staff toward patients and patients relations.

Dr Edego made the expression in a meeting held with his directors, the Hospital Management Committee of Medical Centre Mararaba Gurku (MCMG) and General Hospital Keffi, at the Board Headquarters in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

The meeting was meant to identify and discuss biting issues and loopholes that affect the smooth delivery of service at the facilities and proffer solutions.

While expressing displeasure with the attitude of staff toward patients and their relations, the CMD, warned that, henceforth, the board will not hesitate to take stringent disciplinary measures against any staff found wanting. He urged them to take their job of caring for humanity serious.

During the meeting, Director Finance and Account, Salamatu Oseze, advised that request for funds for any purchase be done appropriately, while the DPS, Joshua Gyale, said tally cards should be used for items purchased.

In addition, the DHPRS, Maryam Sulieman advised that patients and health personnel relations be given due attention, while on her part, the DNS, Patricia Osumanyi emphasised that it is pertinent for staff to be up and doing, and have a sense of belonging and imbibe a team spirit.

Responding, the Medical Superintendent of MCMG, Dr David Uche, appreciated the CMD and his management team for their mentorship in ensuring that the personnel do the right thing.

He said they have paid familiarisation visits to engage with the community and solicited that a harmonised price list be provided by the Board Management as well as additional clinical staff (Doctors and Nurses).
