Why 300 government agencies may be scrapped – Senate

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday has given reasons why the Federal Government will implement the Oronsaye report which recommends the scrapping of over 300 out of the over 500 Agencies of government

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Adeola Olamilekan during an interactive session on 2023-2025 MTEF/ FSP said the implementation would be carried out in view of the current economic realities.

He, however, noted that the recommendation would lead to the sack of some staff.

According to him, the document if properly implemented will reposition the public service for effective service delivery and government will do so in no time.

He charged all revenue generating Agencies to change their approach on revenue generation to rescue Nigeria from her indebtedness.

He further stated that agencies that do not meet the required revenue target will be caught up with the Oronsaye report.
