Ali Nuhu, Hannatu Bashir Rift: Magistrate rejects out of Court settlement

Kannywood King, Ali Nuhu, has recently dragged Hannatu Bashir a producer and actress to a Magistrate Court in Kano, over text messages she sent to him when he failed to feature in her film that she had earlier contracted him.
The Judge presiding over the Ali Nuhu and Bashir Hannatu case, Justice Aminu Gabari, has rejected efforts by the defence and prosecuting lawyers to settle the case outside Court, insisting that Hannatu Bashir the defendant must appear before him in person.
But on Tuesday when lawyers for the defence and the prosecution appeared before the Court, they pleaded that they should be allowed to settle the matter out of Court because both Ali Nuhu and Hannatu Bashir are from the same entertainment industry and this is the first time such issue is coming up between them but the Judge Aminu Gabari ruled that the defendant must appear before him in person on Monday, 24th of October, 2022 so that he will decide on the next line of action.
Ali Nuhu a popular actor, producer and dancer is bitter that Hannatu Bashir decided to send him text messages using nasty words simply because he was unable to honour her invitation to appear in her film.
He said: “We did not sign any written document with her, the agreement was done in principle and on two occasions that the film came up for shooting, I was not available to take part, since there was no legal agreement binding on me, I expect her to understand, but she sent me text messages that are in bad faith as such, I decided to take her to court to seek for justice so that such will not happen in future”.

In the same vain, Hannatu Bashir an upcoming producer, actress and entrepreneur said in a statement that she had already agreed with Ali Nuhu on the basis that the film will commence and she never anticipate any failure, she has nothing against Ali Nuhu, only that she lost lots of money because of Ali’s failure to turn up, she assembled all her artist, got all her equipment ready, book venues and hotel accommodations, only for Ali who is the main character to fail to turn up. This has seriously disorganised the film project.
“In Kannywood, once we agreed with an actor or actress to appear in our films, next is to wait for the date of the shooting, we don’t normally enter a legal agreement which Ali who is a senior member of Kannywood is very much aware, I have nothing against him, even the text I sent to him is not as bad as he claimed, but the next thing I heard was he dragged me to court”, she said.
Neptune Prime in an intensive investigation, to find out why officials of Kannywood and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) did not intervene in the crisis to forestall the litigation, gathered that Ali Nuhu hardly listens to Kannywood or MOPPAN members because of his status in the industry.
Hannatu, on the other hand, is in a group that are not in good terms with Ali Nuhu, so it was a kind of ‘since you fall into my trap, I must deal with you’ incident.
Both Ali and Hannatu refused to answer enquiries from Neptune Prime’s correspondent as at the time of filing this report.
