PVC Collection: Officer flogs prospective voters with no hope at Mararaba centre (Photos)

Many prospective voters were lashed with metal studded belts by a civil Defence officer at the INEC office in Mararaba, Nasarawa State as the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) resumed on January 3rd, 2023.

The prospective voters were said to have been whipped by the officer for perceived unruliness.

Hundreds of people have been said to be waking up at 5 am to join queues for the collection of PVCs without success, as it is gradually coming to an end.

It was learnt that in most cases, the attendants at the centre collect gratification of at least N500 which they call ‘buying of bread’ to favour their benefactors in breach of the first-come-first-served order.

Some of the prospective voters complained that they were tired of the inconsistency of the INEC staff who only tell them to return the following day or week which led to their frustration and their subsequent supposed “unruliness”.
