Head coach, Isah Ladan Bosso, says his team’s objective at the ongoing CAF U-20 tournament in Egypt is to secure the FIFA World Cup ticket which is coming up later in the year in May.

“Before we left our training camp in Morocco, the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau told us clearly that the first objective should be getting a ticket to the FIFA World Cup. We are at that most important stage now and we cannot afford to falter.” he said.

According to Boso, the team is aware that back home Nigerians are looking up to them not letting victory over Uganda slip from their hands even as they are equally aiming for trophy in Egypt.

“We are aware that Nigerians are looking up to us to deliver. While our mission remains bagging the World Cup ticket, we are also eyeing the trophy, which is still a number of matches away. For the moment, we have Uganda in our view and we are working hard to see that we control proceedings on Thursday.”

The Flying Eagles had their debut in the world tournament in 1981 and they are yet to clinch the converted trophy.

Their biggest height was in 1989 when they won silver losing to Portugal 2-0 in the final in Riyadh, Morocco and 2005 losing to Argentina 2-1 in The Netherlands.

The 2005 edition birthed stars like forner Chelsea midfield marshal, John Mikel Obi and the former Olympique de Marseille, player Taye Taiwo.
