UNIMAID mourns Prof. Gujbawu of Mass communication department

The entire community of the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) has been thrown into another state of mourning as one of their renowned trainers of journalists, Professor Mohammed Gujibau, has died. He passed on this morning.

The sad news was announced to newsmen by a former chair of the Nigerian Union of Journalists ( NUJ) Comrade Abatcha Musa, in the platform of the Borno State Council of the union.

“The death has been announced of Professor Mohammed Gujibau of the mass communications development of the University of Maiduguri.”

On burial rites he went on: “I regret to announce the death of Prof Mohammed Gujibau Haruna of Mass Communication Unimaid today morning, 11th April, 2023. Burial time is 4pm, at their family resident opposite Oasis Bakery, near late Bukar Bolori’s house.

” May Allah bless him with Jannatul Firdaus Ameeen” Said Abatcha.

Professor Gujibau was a product of Government College Maiduguri, class of 1984, Talbari House.

Before his death, Professor Gujibau was a former head of department of the Mass Communications department in Unimaid.

He was also drafted by the government to midwife the department of Mass Communications of the Borno State University (BNSU) where he was a visiting Professor.

Also reacting to the death, spokesperson of the BNSU Mohammed Garkwa said they received the death of their former visiting Professor with shock and were yet to process the news when this reporter called him on phone to confirm.

“Prof. Gujibau died this morning after a protracted illness. Until his death, he was on sabbatical leave in the Borno state University as the Dean, Faculty of Social and management Sciences.
