Gov. Sani Bello commissions six key projects in Kontagora
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State recently commissioned six projects in the Kontagora local government area of the state.
The inauguration of these projects was announced in a press release by Mary Noel-Berje, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
The commissioned projects include the School of Nursing and Midwifery, a remodeled and expanded General Hospital, a 1.4km Jikan Shehu Internal Access road, a 5km Maigari Gwadebe GRA road (a part of the 11km Kontagora-Tegina approach road), the Col. Sani Bello Housing Estate, and the Rice Mill Processor, all located in Kontagora.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello emphasized the importance of establishing the School of Nursing and Midwifery to address the shortage of qualified healthcare professionals in the region.
He commended the school’s management for their hard work and achievements in graduating students, promising to relay their challenges to the next administration for a positive response.
Additionally, as a Senator-elect of Niger North, he pledged his support to the institution in any way possible.
Regarding the General Hospital Kontagora, which has been in existence for 79 years, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello acknowledged its neglect due to the town’s growing population.
He stressed the need to upgrade the hospital to meet the increasing demand for healthcare services.
The hospital, formerly a 250-bed space facility, has now been remodeled, expanded, and equipped to accommodate 500 beds, serving the people of Kontagora as well as the neighbouring states of Zamfara and Kebbi.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello highlighted the importance of the road projects, which aim to improve transportation and enhance property values for the people.
He also expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the Col. Sani Bello Housing Estate, a project that had faced setbacks over the past 12 years.
Furthermore, Governor Sani Bello inspected an 8.7km dual carriageway bypass road that was conceived 40 years ago but had not been initiated by previous administrations.
His administration has now taken up the project, ensuring compensation for affected individuals and signing a sustainability framework for its completion.
