Yobe Ministry urges information officials to publicise gov’t policies, programmes efficiently

Yobe State Ministry for Home Affairs, Information and Culture has charged the information officers of the ministry to be committed to their duties of publicising government policies and programmes efficiently and adequately for the betterment of the state.

Husna Ibrahim, Director of Information Services of the Ministry made the call through a press statement obtained by Neptune Prime in Damaturu.

According to the statement, the permanent secretary of the ministry Kashim Tijjani Kalli made the call on Friday in a meeting with the information officers of the Ministry stating that the Yobe State government will not condone negligence to duty from any information officer of the state.

He stated that as voices of government at the various Ministries Department and Agencies, the information officers must cover and
disseminate activities and programmes of their agencies of assignment.

“They are the ambassadors
of the Information ministry and should ensure correspondence with the ministry for proper guidance and wider coverage of activities.

“The administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni is expending huge amount for projects and programmes and only few are reported.

“This unacceptable situation calls for a redirection of information management and reporting.

“To change the narrative of under reportage, the directorate is taking decisive measures geared towards improving the performance of the information officers”.

Kashim Kalli further revealed that there will be a refresher in house and on the job training as well as an improved monitoring and evaluation mechanism aimed at achieving desired goal.

He noted that all press releases from the various MDAs should also be channeled to the office of the Director of Information Services for onward treatment.

The permanent secretary, while encouraging the officers to ginger up and perform optimally, commended the state Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni for providing enabling grounds for the Ministry of Information to better serve the people.

He reassures that all hands are on deck to keep the state informed and enlightened on issues of interest to the state.
