Deborah Abiodun to miss Super Falcons’ encounter with Ireland after red carded 

 

Super Falcons forward, Deborah Abiodun will miss Monday’s crucial encounter with the Republic of Ireland in the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup after she was shown a red card during the game against Canada where it ended a goalless draw.

Abiodun, 19, one of the team’s promising home based youngster plays for Rivers Angels. Her two-match ban took effect in Thursday’s 3-2 victory over Australia.

Also, according to Sports Village, in a document released by FIFA, Asisat Oshoala, Blessing Demehin and Michelle Alozie are on caution list and risk missing the next match if they qualify for the Round of 16.

Two players of the Irish team are also on the list of those booked. They are: Denise Osullivan and Katie McCabe.

For the potentially explosive Australia versus Canada match, also on Monday, both teams have players on caution list.

Australia’s centre forward, Gaitlin Foord has been booked. For Canada, they have four players on the disciplinary watch. They are: Kadeisha Buchanan, Ashley Lawrence, Evelyne Viens and Vanessa Gilles.
