Registration Fees Hike At Bayero University: Kano may experience student dropout, by Yahaya Shawai
Recently, the federal government of Nigeria has withdrawn subsidy removal on the educational system of the country. The decision led to the registration Hike of the public universities.
The registration has skyrocketed, as some students paying at least 40, 000 will pay 100,000 plus.
Bayero University Kano(BUK), was among those Universities. It was discovered that both the newly and current students were to be paying above 100,000 as the registration fee.

In an interview with some students, it was disclosed that the university portal will be closing today by 12am. Investigation reveals that majority of the students were unable to for the registration yet prio to the closure of the portal.
In comparison, with Federal University Dutse( FUD). The students were given the opportunity to pay their registration based on the installments. As such, we may say that why is Bayero University not applying such a method?.
Similarly, it was discovered that, a University in India applied the same Process as that of FUD. Although, some will say Nigeria not like India.
But, BUK can apply the same process. I know some Nigerians will say some students were not that serious, to be paying at the desired time. Yes, quite sure, these will be considered another drawback.
But, the university can apply a process of living the students to study regardless of whether the payments are complete or not. But, a rule can be impossed on the student, that the certificate of completion will not be given unless the fess or debt is settled.
