Chibok Girl Rescued: Governor Zulum assures support

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, welcomed Rebecca Magu, another Chibok girl who had been abducted by Boko Haram insurgents along with 275 of her schoolmates while taking the Secondary School Certificate Examination in 2014 at GSS Chibok.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum assured that the State Government would provide support to Rebecca and all other victims of Boko Haram insurgents in their recovery process.

Rebecca Magu, who was rescued in Cameroon on July 17th, was officially handed over to the Governor of Borno State by Rear Admiral Yem Musa (Rtd), the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre.

This heartwarming reunion aimed to bring her back to her family’s embrace.

She stands among the few Chibok schoolgirls rescued from captivity and received by the Borno State Government since 2019.

Upon arrival at the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport in Maiduguri, the delegation was received by Hon. Zuwaira Gambo, Borno State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development.

During the briefing to the governor, Rear Admiral Musa revealed that Rebecca had been abducted from a Chibok school in 2014 at the tender age of 13.
