LAUTECH in mourning as final year students die in fatal accident

Several 500-level Accounting students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State have lost their lives in a fatal accident while returning from an excursion to Erin-Ijesa Waterfall in Osun State.

The terrible incident occurred on Wednesday evening along the Ilobu-Okinni-Osogbo road in Osun State, as the bus that conveyed the students caught fire. The cause of the accident is unknown as of the time of filing this report.

LAUTECH’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Lekan Fadeyi, while confirming the incident to the Nigerian Tribune, stated that there had been a significant loss of lives, but could not confirm the exact number of deceased as he was awaiting more information on the situation.

“I can confirm to you that there was an accident while some students passed on but I have not gotten the details of their identities,” the school spokesperson said.

Also, Anuoluwa Adeboye, the Students’ Union President of the institution, stated that the students’ excursion to Erin-Ijesa Waterfall was following their first-semester exams, as part of their final-year program.

The entire LAUTECH community is in mourning due to this tragic occurrence.
