The Nigeria Customs Service host a delegation of military officers from Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Lesotho, October 5,2023 in Abuja.
Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, warmly welcomed the visitors, reminiscing about his past role in organizing study tours for Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College students to African countries.
During the meeting, the Acting CGC emphasized the significance of collaboration between the Nigeria Customs Service and security agencies from across the African continent. He highlighted how such partnerships could greatly contribute to combating issues like kidnapping, illegal mining, and other criminal activities that plague the region.

The theme for the meeting, “Reshaping Africa Security Narratives,” echoed the dedication towards strengthening security in Africa. The Acting CGC discussed plans to involve competent individuals from border communities in the customs service, fostering trans-border trade and promoting peace and security throughout Africa.
Colonel Masheke Mutimwa, leading the visiting delegation, expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Nigeria Customs Service’s management team. The purpose of their visit was to expose their student officers to the operational practices of the Nigeria Customs Service, enriching their knowledge and work methodologies.
Deputy Comptroller-General Muhammad Abba-Kura delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the NCS’s accomplishments in advancing regional security and trade. The presentation emphasized the pivotal role of the customs service in the region and showcased the progress made in these critical areas.
The meeting showcased the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service to collaboration and knowledge-sharing among African nations. The visit by military officers from Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Lesotho signifies a step towards building stronger ties and working together to ensure a secure and prosperous future for the continent.
