US warns citizens of threats to major hotels in Nigeria’s cities
The United States has issued a warning to its citizens in Nigeria regarding potential threats to major hotels in the country’s “larger cities.”
In an emergency information update dated November 3, the U.S. cautioned American citizens about these threats while noting that Nigerian security agencies are actively addressing the situation.
The advisory urges U.S. citizens to remain vigilant when staying at major hotels, advising them to stay alert to their surroundings, maintain a low profile, and review the travel advisory for Nigeria before checking into any hotels.

The advisory read: “The U.S. Government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.
“The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat. The U.S. Department of State advises U.S. citizens to consider this information when arranging lodging or visiting major hotels in Nigeria.”
Furthermore, the advisory provided the addresses and telephone numbers of the U.S. embassy in Abuja and the consulate in Lagos, ensuring that any U.S. citizen requiring assistance can reach out.
This warning comes a month after the U.S. issued a global advisory urging its citizens worldwide to exercise caution while travelling to various locations.
