FG warns foreign embassies against unnecessary security alerts

The Nigerian government has warned the US Mission and other foreign embassies in the country to refrain from issuing unnecessary security warnings.

The Information and National Orientation Minister, Mohammed Malagi, spoke to journalists in Abuja on Monday and expressed his worry about the negative impact of such warnings on the country’s stability and economy.

Malagi stressed that the Nigerian government is committed to ensuring the safety and security of everyone in the country, whether they are citizens, residents, or visitors.

The US Mission had earlier issued an alert on November 3, advising its citizens in Nigeria to be aware of “an increased threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities” and to “take this information into account when booking accommodation or visiting major hotels in Nigeria.”

The minister dismissed these alerts as baseless and said that President Bola Tinubu is determined to lead the country towards recovery.
