Man arrested for raping drunk girl during church service

A 32-year-old man, Gbenga Kolawole, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old drunk girl during a church programme in Ogun State.

According to the Police, the incident happened on November 6, 2023, in the Adubi area of Ogun State.

The Police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, said that the victim got drunk and went to the church for the programme. However, she misbehaved and the suspect lured her to a nearby shop in the area and had sex with her.

However, the victim regained her senses and informed her mother about what happened. The mother was not pleased and reported the alleged rape to the Police.

An embittered mother told the Police that the suspect took her daughter while she was drunk to a nearby bar shop, locked her there, and allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

SP Odutola stated that the suspect was caught by one Sunday Ibrahim “m” of the same address, who raised an alarm and the matter got exposed.

The Police spokesperson said that the victim was taken to Ore Ofe Hospital for medical attention and treatment, while the suspect was arrested for preliminary investigation.

According to him, the suspect will likely be charged before the Court for the alleged rape, but that will be after the conclusion of investigations by the Police.
