Tinubu suspends all National Social Investment Programme

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has announced the suspension of all programmes administered by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

The decision comes amid an ongoing investigation into alleged malfeasance in the management of the agency and its programmes.

In a statement released by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, it was revealed that all four programmes administered by NSIPA, including the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and Home Grown School Feeding Programme, have been suspended for an initial period of six weeks.

President Tinubu has expressed significant concerns regarding operational lapses and improprieties surrounding payments to the programmes’ beneficiaries.

To address these issues, he has constituted a ministerial panel to conduct a thorough review of the Agency’s operations and recommend necessary reforms.

During the suspension period, all NSIPA-related activities, including distributions, events, payments, collaborations, and registrations, will be halted.

The President has assured stakeholders and all Nigerians that his administration remains committed to ensuring that social intervention programmes work as intended for the benefit of vulnerable Nigerians.

This decision to suspend the NSIPA activities underscores the government’s commitment to addressing any operational deficiencies and ensuring the effective and fair implementation of social intervention programmes.

The statement did not provide any further details about the investigation or the specific issues that led to the suspension of NSIPA activities.
