Federal High Court rules Aminu Ado Bayero is entitled to fair hearin

In a recent ruling, Justice Liman Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Kano State has determined that the dethroned Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, is entitled to a fair hearing.

This decision follows a previous order for substituted service on Bayero and four other emirs by the Kano State High Court.

The case, initiated by the Kano State Government, seeks to prevent them from assuming the title of emirs.

Justice Mohammed’s ruling confirmed that Bayero’s case can proceed before it, to ensure that he has the chance to challenge the legality of his removal.

This development is a critical step in the ongoing legal dispute over the traditional leadership in Kano State.

Earlier, the Federal High Court sitting in Kano had three weeks ago issued a temporary order preventing the Kano State government from enforcing the State’s Emirate Law 2024 passed by the State House of Assembly, which resulted in the removal of Bayero and four others.

The embattled Bayero has relied on the Federal High Court order to remain at a temporary palace and continued to assert his claim to the Kano throne despite the reinstatement and appointment of Muhammadu Sani II as the 16th Emir of Kano by Governor Abba Yusuf.
