Police probe cleric for allegedly impregnating friend’s wife
The Yobe State Police Command has initiated an investigation into Auwalu Haruna, a self-proclaimed marabout, for allegedly abducting and impregnating his wife’s friend.
The 20-year-old victim, who had been missing for several days, was found pregnant at Haruna’s residence in Anguwan Arewa, Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State.

In an interview with PUNCH Metro on Thursday, Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesperson for the state police command, revealed that Haruna had allegedly hypnotized the victim with a concoction, rendering her unconscious and eloping with her to Kano.
The abduction was reported by the victim’s father at the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters, leading to Haruna’s arrest. Medical tests confirmed that the victim was two months pregnant.
The case has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. Abdulkarim noted that once the investigation is complete, the file will be sent to the Yobe State Ministry of Justice for legal proceedings.
