Many feared trapped as 2-storey building in Abuja collapses

A two-storey residential building located in Phase Two, Site Two of the Kubwa area in the Federal Capital Territory collapsed early this morning, around 7 am, leaving many feared trapped beneath the rubble.

The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, occurred suddenly, with details about the exact cause of the collapse still unclear at the time of reporting. Eyewitnesses describe a scene of chaos as emergency responders rush to the site to rescue those potentially buried under the debris.

Nkechi Isa, spokesperson for the FCT Emergency Management Agency, confirmed that their search and rescue team is currently on the scene, working tirelessly to find and assist any survivors.

The incident follows closely on the heels of a similar event where 200 students were trapped in a collapsed school building in Plateau, highlighting a dire need for improved safety measures.
