Ten Hag backs Sancho to thrive after public dispute

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed his confidence in Jadon Sancho as the winger makes his return to the club following a turbulent period.

Sancho’s recent appearance in a preseason friendly against Rangers marks his first for Manchester United since August of the previous year.

Sancho’s absence from the team stemmed from a loan spell at Borussia Dortmund during the latter half of last season, where he reached the UEFA Champions League final.

This period was also marked by a public fallout between Sancho and Ten Hag, stemming from the player’s criticism of the manager on social media.

Following a recent meeting between Sancho and Ten Hag, the winger has resumed training with the first team.

Ten Hag addressed the situation in an interview with Dutch outlet AD Sportwereld before Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Rangers.

“We spoke well,” Ten Hag remarked. “Everyone can make a mistake. If the player reflects on this well, you draw a line and move on.”

Ten Hag highlighted the importance of moving forward and focusing on the future. “This club needs good players, and one thing is certain: Jadon Sancho is a very good player.

I hope that we will still click and that he will contribute to our success,” he added.

The manager’s support comes as a positive signal for Sancho, who is eager to reintegrate into the team and contribute to Manchester United’s goals for the new season.

The club’s recent preseason performance has provided a platform for Sancho to demonstrate his value and potentially cement his place in the squad moving forward.
