April 4th set for Binance executives arraignment over tax evasion charges

A court date of April 4, 2024, has been scheduled for the arraignment of Binance Holdings Limited and its executives, Tigran Gambaryan, and Nadeem Anjarwalla, in connection with allegations of tax evasion.

The hearing notice confirming this date has been sent to all parties involved in the case.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service recently filed charges related to tax evasion against Binance and its officials.

The suit, identified as FHC/ABJ/CR/115/2024, accuses Binance of neglecting to register with the FIRS for tax payment purposes.

Furthermore, the FIRS alleges that Binance failed to issue invoices to subscribers using its trading platform, hindering the determination and payment of value-added taxes.

The company and its executives are also accused of not deducting the necessary VATs from their services related to the buying, selling, remittance, and transfer of cryptocurrencies, and aiding subscribers in avoiding tax payments.

These alleged offenses are in violation of various tax acts and regulations, making the defendants subject to punishment under the law.

Following previous reports of the detention of Binance executives in Nigeria, negotiations between the company and Nigerian authorities have been ongoing.

Most recently, Nadeem Anjarwalla, one of the executives, eluded custody and fled the country, prompting further developments in this legal case.
