Gov. Buni vows to end water scarcity in Damaturu, environs – SSG

Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON has taken decisive action to address the water scarcity issues plaguing Damaturu, the state capital, and its surrounding areas.

In a statement by Yusuf Ali, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Digital and Strategic Communications, Governor Buni has tackled the persistent acute shortage of water with full force to ensure consistent water supply.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Malam Wali mni, announced on Friday that Governor Buni has issued a resolute directive to put an end to the water scarcity in the state capital.

“The prolonged acute shortage of water in the city and water supply to Damaturu would be addressed as directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni.”

Governor Mai Mala Buni expressed deep concern over the perennial water shortage in Damaturu and its surroundings, thus directing an increase in diesel supply to the state water Corporation facilities from 40,000 to 60,000 litres.

This move aims to power more boreholes and enhance water supply to the Damaturu community.

“In a demonstration of government commitment, Governor Mai Mala Buni immediately instructed the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) staff to collaborate with the management of the state water Corporation to ensure the immediate supply of water to the people of Damaturu and environs.”

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Malam Wali, stated that his office has been coordinating with the state water Corporation to implement the Governor’s directive of providing technical and financial support to the water Corporation.

“With this development, residents of Damaturu and environs facing water scarcity are set to experience relief as water supply will significantly improve, Insha Allah,” assured the SSG.

Governor Mai Mala Buni seeks more patience and prayers from the residents of Damaturu as efforts are underway to ensure both temporary and permanent solutions to the water scarcity problem.
