FAAN reopens Lagos Airport runway following Dana Air incident

In response to the recent Dana Air incident that led to the temporary closure of the runway 18L/36R at Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the reopening of the runway for flight operations.

The Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at FAAN issued a statement confirming the resumption of operations.

She highlighted the swift actions taken by FAAN’s emergency response team to safely evacuate and recover the aircraft involved in the incident.

Furthermore, comprehensive clearing operations were carried out to ensure that the runway was free of any Foreign Object Debris (FOD) that could pose a threat to flight safety.

She added that the FAAN Operations Division and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) had jointly conducted a thorough inspection of the runway surface and deemed it safe for the resumption of operations.
