Ambassador Usman Aliyu: Leading by example in environmental and humanitarian efforts, by Abubakar Kado

Ambassador Usman Aliyu, a hydrology expert, humanitarian, philanthropist, climate change activist, and social justice advocate from Borno State, has dedicated his career to transformative change, community development, and sustainable growth.

A diligent skills training and acquisition program was sponsored by Ambassador Aliyu and some donations from a dear friend, as a passionate gesture to improve the lives of vulnerable widows and orphans uprooted by the Boko Haram conflict. Working with the WOGSUDA office, he provided training for fifty widows and orphans in a variety of skill areas, including baking, making snacks and local sweets, beadwork, sewing bed linens, and making throw pillows, all without receiving any funding from national or international organizations. This program not only gives them the necessary tools but also gives them the confidence to become financially independent, which encourages perseverance and independence in the community. making him the recipient of the title “A Visionary Leader with Multifaceted Expertise”

Ambassador Aliyu initiated a project to rehabilitate and repair hand pumps in Maiduguri, Bauchi, and Biu Emirate, resulting in over 700 repairs. He also drilled over 50 new boreholes, ensuring sustainable access to clean water, and enhancing public health and quality of life.

Amb. Aliyu’s water infrastructure projects covered several local government regions, including Azare, Kwaya Kumar, and Biu. They precisely catered to the specific demands of these various people and were submitted to the Emir of Biu.

Amb. Aliyu’s investments in water infrastructure have enhanced the availability of clean water, fortified the community’s resistance to illnesses, and encouraged socioeconomic growth, education, and a self-sufficient mindset among locals.

Amb. Aliyu’s emphasis on water infrastructure strengthened community resilience against waterborne illnesses and increased access to clean water, both of which improved public health outcomes. His well-timed investments in water projects have sparked socioeconomic growth, increased access to education, and promoted a well-being and self-sufficiency culture among locals.

Amb. Aliyu’s collaborative approach has fostered partnerships with local, governmental, and international entities, enhancing project implementation and promoting inclusive development across various sectors.
