IPOB/ESN kill 4 policemen, FRSC officials in fresh attacks
In a harrowing turn of events, Enugu State was once again plunged into chaos as gunmen executed a brazen attack, resulting in the tragic deaths of four law enforcement officers.
The assailants targeted two operatives each from the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), spreading fear and anguish in the communities of Orba and Eha-Alumona.
“The rampage unfolded against the backdrop of heightened tension following a similar attack just a day earlier, where two policemen lost their lives in close proximity to the Government House”.
This latest onslaught struck at the heart of the state’s security apparatus, leaving a trail of devastation and sorrow in its wake.
Reports indicate that the attack commenced around 4 pm, starting at Premier Junction in Eha-Alumona before advancing to the Army checkpoint in Orba. “Despite the valiant efforts of the targeted officers, four lives were tragically lost, while others sustained injuries amid the chaos”.

In addition to targeting law enforcement personnel, the assailants demonstrated a chilling disregard for authority by setting ablaze a vehicle belonging to the traditional ruler of Egali Amalla Community, Igwe Waziri.
Miraculously, the monarch emerged unscathed from the ordeal, escaping the clutches of death by a stroke of luck.
Amidst the turmoil, the state Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, expressed shock and disbelief at the incident, highlighting the need for swift and decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
However, efforts to glean further insights from the Police Public Relations Officer were met with silence, underscoring the gravity of the situation.
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State issued a resolute statement, vowing to deploy all available resources in the pursuit of justice and the restoration of peace to the beleaguered communities.
Yet, as the sun sets on another day marred by violence, the echoes of gunfire serve as a stark reminder of the challenges that lie ahead in securing the safety and well-being of Enugu’s residents.
