Oyo government gives 21-day ultimatum to clear vehicles from Ibadan stadium

The Oyo State Government expressed concern on Sunday over the illegal parking and abandonment of vehicles at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Ibadan, and have issued a 21-day ultimatum for the removal of these vehicles.

During an impromptu visit to inspect the facilities at the stadium, the state’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, communicated the ultimatum.

In a statement from the Director of Media and Communications of the state’s sports council, Tunde Ajibike, Adegoke urged those responsible to adhere to the government’s directive within the given timeframe.

Adegoke emphasised, “I would like to kindly request members of the public who have left their vehicles abandoned on these premises to promptly remove them. The state’s Traffic Management Agency will impound any vehicles left after 21 days. The stadium is intended for sporting activities and recreation, not as a parking lot.”

She further added, “I also encourage the shop owners and artisans within this vicinity to utilise the facilities appropriately and maintain cleanliness.

“The government remains committed to advancing sports and initiating empowerment programs to enhance the lives of our youth in the state.”
