AC Milan parts ways with head coach Stefano Pioli
Stefano Pioli, the head coach of AC Milan, who led the team to the Serie two years ago will be departing after the current season.
Pioli, who took charge of the First Team in October 2019, is ending his tenure with the club.
Despite finishing in second place this season, trailing behind city rivals Inter, who secured the title by defeating Pioli’s team 2-1 in April, Pioli had previously been celebrated for guiding AC Milan to their first league title since 2011 in 2022.
He also led the team to the Champions League semi-finals last season, a feat they hadn’t achieved in over a decade.
The decision to part ways with Pioli comes after an early Champions League exit this season and the team’s inability to challenge Inter for the title.
Reports suggest that Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca, who has been managing French club Lille, is in line to succeed Pioli.

In a warm tribute, the Milan board expressed their gratitude to Pioli for his contributions, acknowledging his role in securing the league title and elevating the team’s performance in European competitions.
Pioli reciprocated the sentiment by thanking the club and praising the unwavering support of the fans.
Stefano Pioli expressed his gratitude to AC Milan “for the opportunity to be part of the history of this glorious Club”.
