Ritual Killing: Adamawa gov’t mandates hotel owners to install CCTV cameras
The Adamawa State Government has issued a six-week ultimatum to hoteliers to install Close-Circuit Television cameras in their facilities for enhanced security surveillance and guest safety.
Deputy governor, Kaleptapwa Farauta, conveyed the ultimatum during an emergency security meeting with hotel owners in Adamawa. She firmly warned that non-compliance would result in sanctions.
In response, Samuel Adwata, the chairman of the Association of Hoteliers in Adamawa, assured swift compliance with the directive.
This ultimatum comes after the gruesome beheading of a middle-aged divorcee in a hotel room in Yola by a suspected ritualist.

Multiple arrests have been made in connection with the incident, including the apprehension of three hotel employees on duty at the time of the murder.
It is reported that the suspected ritualist had taken his victim to the hotel, where he was lodging as a guest, and then carried out the heinous act before fleeing with the victim’s decapitated head.
Confirming the arrests, the police spokesman in Adamawa, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed that the deceased ex-husband had identified her remains.
The ex-husband further revealed that they had been married for about six years before divorcing in December 2023 due to irreconcilable differences, they had one son together.
