Wife begs court to dissolve her 25-year-old marriage over lack of love, fetish practices

An Area Court in Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State, has dissolved a 25-year-old marriage between Ramat Ibrahim and her estranged husband, Ibrahim Ayinla, citing an alleged lack of love as the primary reason.

Presiding Judge Hammad Ajumonbi delivered the judgment, highlighting the petitioner Ramat’s statement, which indicated that all attempts to reconcile the couple had proven futile.

The marriage, conducted in the Islamic religion, was officially dissolved during the court proceedings.

Addressing the matter of the couple’s adult children, the judge ruled that they had the right to choose with whom they wanted to reside.

The court directed the respondent, Ibrahim Ayinla, to take full responsibility for the children’s feeding, school fees, and medical expenses to the best of his ability.

Additionally, the judge granted the petitioner, Ramat, permission to pack all her belongings.

During the proceedings, Ramat expressed fear of going to the respondent’s house, alleging fetish practices and partiality with his co-wife. She insisted on divorce for her safety.

Ramat, who disclosed she had no job or visible means of livelihood to support the children, requested that they remain with the respondent for the time being.

In response, the respondent expressed agreement with the petitioner’s decision on divorce and asserted his desire to avoid any further contact with his estranged wife to prevent additional allegations.
