Four northern states experience power outage as DisCo loses supply
A power outage has hit four northern states – Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi – due to the loss of bulk power supply by the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo).
The Head of Corporate Communications at the Kaduna DisCo, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, confirmed the power outage, assuring customers that power supply would be restored as soon as the DisCo received bulk supply at the load centers across its franchise.
The DisCo did not disclose the cause of the sudden loss of bulk power supply, however, it is important to note that the lack of gas supply has been negatively impacting electricity generation across the country’s power plants for over a month.

The electricity generating companies, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, and electricity distribution companies have all been affected by the low gas supply for power generation.
The Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has promised to find a lasting solution to the problem, following a meeting with stakeholders on Thursday.
The DisCo apologised for the inconvenience caused by the power outage and reassured customers that power supply would be restored once the bulk supply at the load centers is received.
