In order to revive the education sector after years of insurgency, the Yobe State Government has officially commissioned Government Day Secondary School Dumbari and Government Day Science and Technical College Bizi.

The symbolic ceremony, held in Jakusko and Bade Local Government Areas, marked a significant stride towards realizing the objectives set forth by the declaration of a State of Emergency on Basic and Secondary Education by Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Representing Governor Mai Mala Buni, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss, the Commissioner of Yobe State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, emphasized the administration’s commitment to not only enhancing the education sector but also instilling a culture of learning among young people.

Dr. Idriss highlighted the anticipated impact of the newly commissioned schools, foreseeing increased enrollment and a subsequent reduction in out-of-school children within the beneficiary communities.

Acknowledging Governor Buni’s prioritization of education and substantial investment in the sector, Dr. Idriss commended the dedication of Village Head Lawan Gimba towards educational development in the area.

The Chairman of Bade Local Government Council, Ibrahim Babagana Yuroma, and his counterpart from Jakusko, represented by Vice Chairman Honourable Adamu Musa, expressed gratitude for the approval of the school establishments in their respective jurisdictions.

In response, Village Head Lawan Gimba extended appreciation to Governor Buni for fulfilling his promises, stressing the administration’s commitment to revitalising education, while urging community support to ensure the success of this endeavor.

The community leaders and stakeholders said the long-awaited project is a significant step towards improving access to quality education in the region.

Neptune Prime learned that the Commissioner was accompanied by Alhaji Bukar Aji Bukar, Permanent Secretary, and other officials from the Ministry during the ceremony.
