The competition, held in collaboration with the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, commenced three days ago at the Event Centre in Bauchi. This Qur’anic competition is part of a series of activities marking the official inauguration of the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Integrated Islamic Centre located in the state capital.
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by his deputy Auwal Jatau, officially declared the ceremony open.
He praised the foundation for organising such an event, noting that competitions like these could inspire children to memorise the holy Qur’an and foster a studious mindset.
The chairman of the competition committee, Sayyadi Aliyu Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, explained that the competition aimed to identify children capable of reciting and memorizing the holy Qur’an with correct pronunciation, known as ‘Tajweed.’
In his remarks, the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyamini Othman, expressed appreciation for the organisers’ initiative and hoped that the effort would be sustained to encourage the younger generation to develop the habit of memorising the Qur’an.
At the conclusion of the five-day event, various prizes are set to be presented to those contestants who excelled during the competition.
