The Royal Father, who said journalists are the fourth estate of the realm, reminded the visiting media professionals that they have critical roles to play in every aspect of nation building.

“We are happy with you for your contributions in promoting the state through reporting all activities as they unfold, but I want to urge you to redouble your efforts and say the truth, be equitable and be fair so that not always, you will be praising government,” said the Emir of Fika.

He said journalists have played vital roles in the development of Yobe State, urging them to maintain the tempo.

The Emir however charged them to criticize government and all other leaders when they are doing wrong as doing so is the only way of achieving more success.

Earlier the leader of the delegation, and the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel (NUJ) Yobe State Council, Comrade Ahmed I. Abba said the aim of the visit is to sympathize with the Emir over the recent outbreak of meningitis within his domain and the last farmer/herders’ clash in Gurjaje community.

Ahmad Abba thanked the Royal Father for his support to journalists in the state by honouring all their invitations as well as giving them the needed counsel.

He also commended the Emir for his response to the Gurjaje clash, pointing out that such approach is worthy of emulation.
