Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, said the present administration in the state would continue to prioritise social support, through empowerment schemes and training for youths, women and other segments of the population as part of continued effort to cushion current socio-economic difficulties in the country.

Governor Buni disclosed this on Monday during a meeting with the chairmen of local government councils, 14 emirs of the state and other senior government officials, including the deputy governor, secretary to the state government, head of service, chief of staff to the governor and some members of the state executive council.

Briefing journalists shortly after the meeting, the state Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Alhaji Abdullah Bago, said the Governor revealed that the present administration will also prioritise community engagement through local government councils, traditional institutions, and other relevant stakeholders in order to ensure that people across the state are fully informed about government policies and programmes and are carried on board in their implementation.

Bego stated that the meeting also emphasised the need for local government and traditional councils to continue to attend to local and community issues in a way that strengthens trust, good neighbourliness, and community cohesion.
