FG appeal to aviation unions to delay planned protest
The Federal Government has appealed to aviation unions to postpone their planned protest concerning the deduction of 50 per cent from the internal revenue of aviation agencies. The appeal was made by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in a statement released on Friday.
Keyamo reassured the unions and stakeholders that President Bola Tinubu is deeply concerned about the aviation sector’s development and is committed to addressing their concerns. The minister emphasised that the government is working on a solution that balances its fiscal needs with the operational requirements of the aviation agencies.

In his press statement, Keyamo acknowledged the unions’ concerns about the negative impact of the revenue deductions on investment, maintenance, and overall operations of the agencies. He underscored the government’s commitment to resolving these issues while ensuring the sector’s sustainability and high service standards.
The minister urged workers to remain calm and maintain industrial peace as the government seeks an amicable resolution. He expressed appreciation for their patience and understanding and reassured them of the government’s dedication to creating a conducive work environment.
The appeal follows the unions’ call for action against the federal government’s policy, which they argue undermines the sector’s operational efficiency and investment potential.
