Faith Racheal arrested in India for smuggling 3.87 kg of mescaline
Police in India have apprehended Faith Racheal, a Nigerian national, for her alleged involvement in smuggling and supplying psychotropic substances.
On August 14, 2024, Racheal was arrested in Mehrauli, Delhi, following a tip-off about drug trafficking activities.
Authorities recovered 3.87 kilograms of Mescaline, a powerful hallucinogen, valued at approximately Rs 15 crore (around $18 million) on the international market.
The drug was ingeniously concealed within the packaging of branded toffees and fish food.
Mescaline, derived from the Peyote cactus and the San Pedro cactus, is known for its hallucinogenic effects, similar to LSD and Psilocybin (magic mushrooms).
It can appear in various forms, including powder, tablets, capsules, or liquid.
Racheal entered India in August 2022 on a medical visa, which expired without her return to Nigeria.
During her stay, she connected with a Nigerian associate and became involved in a narcotics trafficking network.

She reportedly used her connections to transport and distribute narcotics, facilitating the transfer of illegal substances between different conduits.
A raid conducted on August 14 led to Racheal’s arrest, where police seized the concealed drugs. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Amit Kaushik, confirmed the details of the operation and the significant quantity of Mescaline found.
The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and the complexities involved in international drug smuggling networks.
