Southampton sign Arsenal keeper, Ramsdale
Southampton has signed England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Arsenal in a deal reportedly worth £25 million ($32 million), just ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
The 26-year-old, who lost his starting position to David Raya last season, had been linked to Wolves, but that move fell through, paving the way for his transfer to St Mary’s.
Expressing his excitement about the move, Ramsdale said, “I’m absolutely delighted. The manager’s enthusiasm and vision for the team were really inspiring, and he made me feel about eight feet tall.”
Ramsdale, who joined Arsenal from Sheffield United in 2021, made 89 appearances for the Gunners and was part of the PFA’s Premier League Team of the Year for the 2022-23 season. However, his role diminished following the arrival of Raya, leading to his transfer.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his gratitude to Ramsdale, stating, “Aaron has been a top professional and made many contributions during his time with us. We wish him the best in his new opportunity at Southampton.”
Southampton manager Russell Martin is optimistic about Ramsdale’s future at the club, saying, “He is hungry to become England’s number one again, and he brings a winning mentality, big character, and a big voice.”
Ramsdale is expected to make his debut for Southampton in their upcoming match against Brentford.
