Police arrest man for gang raping 14-year-old girl

One suspect has been taken into custody by Rivers State Police Command operations, and another is presently wanted for the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in the state.

The victim, whose name is concealed, was dispatched on an errand to her older brother’s house.

As she was travelling along a desolate road, she was ambushed by the suspects, who were described as Honest and Okeukwe, and brought to a residence where they alternated in raping her.

When the victim’s mother realised that her child had never reached the older brother’s home, she became concerned, and the members of the neighbourhood vigilante organisation took immediate action.

The brothers had raped her, and she was subsequently discovered in a residence.

The younger brother ran away and is presently at large, while the older brother was taken into custody and given over to officers from the Egi Police Division Headquarters in Obite, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the occurrence and stated that additional attempts are being taken to capture the younger brother who is evading capture.

The police have opened an inquiry into the incident.
